About
Substance Use Disorder has become an epidemic across the Unites States. It does not discriminate and has most likely touched everyone in one way or another. Greg DiAntonio was a happy, energetic young man and an athlete. He played baseball as a youngster and for Wildwood Catholic High School he played on the tennis and soccer teams. Soccer was his favorite sport. Gregg played in state championship games and at the end of his soccer career at Wildwood Catholic High School, he was inducted into the Wildwood Catholic Soccer Hall of Fame. In addition, as a young man he loved boating and traveled to many destinations on this boat. He also loved to travel by air to many locations in the U.S. and abroad. He was an educated, successful business man who could not escape the grips of addiction. Unfortunately, he lost his battle with Substance Use Disorder in 2012.
Kreni and Pat DiAntonio, Greg's mother and father, established the Greg DiAntonio Memorial to keep his legacy alive, which is a non-profit charity fund set up with two purposes in mind: one, is to raise awareness in our communities that Substance Use Disorder is a mental health issue and can be co-occurring. Also to erase the stigma, offer help and education to families and recovery options to those struggling. The second purpose was to provide financial assistance to Wildwood Catholic Academy which helps families with tuition. In doing so it affords students the opportunity to receive a quality education. The monies raised for these purposes comes directly from the proceeds of the annual Greg DiAntonio Reggae Fest and the donations that are contributed to this event.
Over the past nine years, the Reggae Fest has raised substantial monies which came from the overwhelming help, love and support of our family, friends and members within and outside of our communities. As a result of EVERYONE'S efforts, from a single ticket purchase, to those who have contributed donations to the event, or anyone that has simply spread the Reggae Fest word, it is " you" the people that make this charitable event such an amazing success. This is why the Reggae Fest is looked upon by many as a fun-filled social event that at the same time raises money thanks to "all of you".
The proceeds from the Greg DiAntonio Memorial have been distributed to Wildwood Catholic Academy and being put to work in our local communities hosting substance abuse education seminars, purchasing Gym memberships for those in recovery, financially helping individuals with sober living house rental assistance and so much more. Again, we would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making every Reggae Fest a success, raising money that is used for such a needed and good cause.
Join us for our 11th Year Celebration of Greg DiAntonio Reggae Fest Reunion of Friends and Family on September 2023. (Actual date TBD) Please keep an eye out for our up coming Reggae news flashes. You will see these news flashes on Facebook, on our website, and through emails. You can be proud because "YOU" are making a difference in the lives of many people.
Thanking you as always,
Pat and Kreni DiAntonio
